The build is
LMY47D and the update arrives with the Android 5.1-specific goodies. You should
be able to notice that the ‘Wi-Fi’ and ‘Bluetooth’ text in Quick Settings has a
little arrow next to it. Press it and it opens a list of nearby Wi-Fi networks
or Bluetooth devices rather than opening the respective settings menu like in
5.0. The new update also brings animations for the ‘Auto-rotate’ tile and for
the icons at the top of the Clock app, the ability to manually remove the
‘Hotspot’ and ‘Color inversion’ dynamic tiles, a new mode in Smart Lock called
‘On-body detection’, separate volume levels for media and system, a redesigned
interface for contacts creating / editing screen, ‘Until next alarm’ downtime
for ‘None’ and ‘Priority’ volume modes, and more.
Android 5.1
update for Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition is being rolled out in
phases, meaning that some of you would still have to wait a few more days.
Normally, a system update message should appear in the notification bar as soon
as your device becomes eligible to receive the new software update. Tap on it,
choose ‘Download now’, wait until the download is complete, then select
‘Install now’. Your phone should reboot and flash the new firmware. You can
also check for the update manually under Settings > About phone > System
updates > Check for update. Least, but not last you can manually install the
update on your Xperia Z Ultra GPE using the OTA ZIP file.
